On January 24, 2008, the Kajul Education Program was officially launched in a Grand Launching ceremony at the
Bellezza Ballroom, Permata Hijau, Jakarta, Indonesia.
The moderator of the event was activist-celebrity Rieke Diah Pitaloka, as
our Energy Ambassador of the Kajul Program. Mrs. Daniela Sohngen of DEG Germany,
Mr. Hiskia from LIPI (Indonesian Institute of Sciences) and Mr. Tulus Abadi
from YLKI (Indonesian Consumer Foundation) and
Fr. T Agus Sriyono, SJ
from ATMI (Akademi Teknik Mesin Industri) consecutively
gave short welcoming speeches in support of the program. In the afternoon
session, Mr. Maurice Adema gave a concise presentation about Energy and the
solutions to overcome the worldwide Energy Crisis. Among the guests were
also present Mr. Alvin Lie from Commission VII of the Indonesian House of
Representatives, and Artri Aldoranti (Achi) Miss Indonesia Earth 2007.
The public response was positive, as witnessed by the numerous questions and comments they gave.
This indicated the Kajul Program had triggered the public awareness about the energy illiteracy problem.
From the high number of correct answers to the quizzes at the end of the event, we could draw the conclusion that the concept of using Joule as the standard unit for energy calculations
had been fully understood and easily mastered by the audience.
The following are some photos taken during the event.
A toast to a successful launch.
